I’ve been starting with pencils on all of these but I didn’t have a pencil handy, so I was just like “WE’LL DO IT LIVE!” and started scribbling with this new pen I got the other day.
It’s not a very direct reflection of the keyword “wild” but it’s something that came into my head and that I liked.
I was using a technique I learned (kinda) from Lynda Barry, where when you don’t know what to draw, you just start drawing, very slowly, something that is a known quantity, like panel borders. That gives you a chance to be there, on the page, drawing, and it’s much more likely that things to draw will occur to you when you’re already drawing.
Movement is key.
